Well guys before we start our training program lets get something very clear. Performing Parkour movements is not at all easy and requires to understand
FOUR PILLARS OF Success:
- HARD WORK
- PATIENCE
- DEDICATION
- TIME
So if you lack them then the chances that, you learning Parkour are very slim. My opinion to those who can't fulfill the above requirements and want to learn Parkour, guys leave it, this sport is dangerous and you will get hurt if you don't perform in a controlled way. Controlled way can only be achieved by understanding the FOUR pillar stones of any sport including life.
Now that we know the Pillar stones we need to get somethings ready before we move into the program.
Step 1: Setting goals
Goal Setting |
For example if our long term goal is to build strength then short term goal would be handling body weight or performing min 10 pull ups.
Step 2: Understanding your body
What do you need to understand about your body may be the first question, that many of you would be thinking and why should we need to understand could be the next one.
Performing Parkour movements require
- Strength of your core
- Coordination of various muscles
- Flexibility.
- Stable mind
Stable mind is the most important as if you perform movements without thinking and planning you will definitely injure yourself. So how to understand your body
- Calculate your BMI: You can calculate BMI from many free online sites and see where do you lye are you under weight , normal or over weight. If you are over weight i would suggest you to look for fat burning program rather than moving to parkour, for others guys your BMI is OK for Parkour, but you need to build strength.
- Calculate your body fat index: This is optional, so don't think too much about it, if your Body Fat Index is not in normal we can build it through our training program.
- Check for Deformation: Guys i wont lie to you this should be the most important thing to do in understanding your body. Do you have any pain or soreness in any part of your body if so get it diagnosed or else it may lead to serious problems.
When i was young i had constant pain in my lower leg (shin bone region) i ignored the pain and left it and when i took Parkour while performing some moves i hit my leg to a small rock and i was forced to take rest for a month due to excess pain. So my suggestion would be get treated first and then move to workouts.
Step 3: Understanding movements
Now we are ready to learn parkour so first step is to understand the movements which we are going to perform. Our TRAINING PROGRAM is something like this we are going to have five workout days each of 1-30 min each in a week for the next 30 days so make sure that you allot the time for it. Every day at 8 pm i will upload the exercises (chart) to perform. So your task would be to take the chart and understand how to perform those movements correctly and perform them in the next day.
Step 4: Repetition and Practice
I need not have to go into much details i believe that all knows how much important is to practice, Practice one move at a time as mastering a single move is much easy and important as it increases your efficiency. So don't try to clear multiple obstacles at a same time.
Step 5: Conditioning
This is the most important thing while we are learning parkour conditioning will help to strengthen our body and will help us perform much higher wall runs or more push ups also it tells us our own limits and how much we can push.
So guys this is it we are ready to Start our Program from my next post i will upload the workouts that needs to be performed to get started into parkour.
